Using Your Local Ruby Environment to Deploy Blockspring Functions

Generate your first Blockspring Ruby Function

In this step you'll generate a starter Blockspring function written in Ruby.

The CLI tool comes with blockspring new, a handy function generator. Pass in your language (rb) and your function title to generate a Ruby starter function:

$ blockspring new rb "Best function ever"
Creating directory best-function-ever
Creating script file best-function-ever/block.rb
Creating config file best-function-ever/blockspring.json

You now have your first Blockspring function. The CLI tool created a new directory for your function populated with the two key files. blockspring.json holds your function's Ruby code and block.rb holds your function's configurations. We'll dive deeper into these files in later steps.
