Using Your Local Ruby Environment to Deploy Blockspring Functions

Install the Blockspring Ruby Gem

If you look at the first line of code in block.rb, you'll see that it depends on the Blockspring gem. This gem assists in passing parameters to your function as JSON via STDIN, and provides helpers for defining and calling other Blockspring functions.

To install the gem simply use gem install:

$ gem install blockspring
Fetching: blockspring-0.0.8.gem (100%)
Successfully installed blockspring-0.0.8
1 gem installed

Blockspring functions can use any gem you have installed on your computer when they're executing locally, but a limited number of gems are available for when your function runs in the cloud. Visit available gems for more info.

Now that you have the gem installed we can start executing your function locally.
